Dr. Navas-Cortés lead the laboratory of Plant Disease Epidemiology and Integrated Disease Management and is Head of the Plant Health Research Group at IAS-CSIC. His research activities are focused on: (1) Development of quantitative models to facilitate prediction of plant diseases and design efficient control strategies; (2) Spatio-temporal dynamics of plant disease epidemics; Impacts of climatic change on plant pathogens; (3) Detection, monitoring and quantification of plant disease epidemics by remote sensing; and (4) Integrated control of plant pathogens. Current research projects involve quantitative epidemiology on Verticillium wilt in olive and Xylella fastidiosa.
